History of The Association

 

National Board of Revenue is engaged for smooth economic and proper money circulation of the government of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh to achieve the economic growth of the national economy. The major part of internal resources are collected by the National Board of Revenue. The NBR have practically two wing: Custom VAT & Income Tax. Income tax is the major & only the direct tax which being collected by the NBR. Direct tax collection is very much embracing round the globe, yet to be collected to uniform the wealth and finance for the citizen. For collecting the direct tax as income tax. Tax lawyers without any question having a great responsibility on them and after 1947 historically this had been properly done by the income tax lawyers. In 1950 tax lawyers founded their platform to do more harmony between the taxpayers & taxes department in the name and style “Bangladesh Taxes Bar Association”. The first office was established at 8, Wiseghat Patuatuly, Dhaka and the then office continued upto 1957.

In 1957 the Bangladesh Taxes Bar Association was shifted from Wiesghat to 30/1, Laxmibazar, I Bhaban and the Bar was functioning there up to 1960.

In the year 1960 the income tax department shifted from Laxmibazar to Bangladesh Secretariat, 1st phase (presently Anti Corruption Commission) and the Bar is vital part & parcel of the Income tax department for revenue, yielding concern. The Bar association office also shifted here and continued upto 1965.

In 1965 the income tax office shifted to Bangladesh secretariat 2nd phase (which is named Rajashsho Bhaban.)

And the Bangladesh Taxes Bar Association also shifted here unitedly. Thereafter name of the association changed as “Dhaka Taxes Bar Association”. The history reflects logically without any question that Dhaka Taxes Bar Association always work for the betterment of govt. especially on direct tax i.e income tax.
The most remarkable work of th Executive Committee, 2004-2005, the then President Mr. Shah Jikrul Ahmed and the General Secretary Mr. Gafur Mozumdar-II with other members having a dynamic thought and continuous efforts, they published the “List of Members and Telephone Directory, 2005”. The directory is full of information of the members and also the information and various pictures of old days of the association.

 

 

Comparing the previous records it’s a milestone of the Association.
